K200 300393 - Melksham

This K200 has been in the same family since the late 1970s and is in full working order.

It was bought in Bath from some people who didn’t really want to sell it, but were saving up to buy a horse! Brought home in an overloaded Mini van.

The owners drew up a list of must have rock 'n' roll records and were soon able to find most of them in early morning visits to Brick Lane market in London.

All the mains wiring was replaced as well as most of the amplifier capacitors. The carbon composition resistors have been changed to metal film types. Plus new micro switches and a new volume control.

As well as an American amplifier, another discrepancy is in the selection mechanism. Internet American AMI information states:

JHK-200 (K200M) Manual Selection System

JAK-200 (K200) Electrical Selection System Pulse Converter system

JKK-200 (K200A) Automatic Selection System No Pulse Converter

This jukebox has a label on the selection cover headed:

PULSE CONVERTER & SELECTOR

Which would have made it equivalent to the horribly complicated JAK-200 Electrical Selection System, designed to operate directly with wall boxes. However when the cover was removed it revealed the much much simpler selection mechanism of a JKK-200 Automatic Selection System machine. A great relief to the owner!
