J200 1013 - Kent (Part 1)
This jukebox was purchased by Bob Trott from eBay and although described as ‘complete’ it was nothing like it! Some successful litigation ensued...
Rob Edwards was still operating in Thornton Heath as Jukebox City at the time and between he and Bob, they renovated it (not a full restoration, as ‘innards’ were left as close to the natural state as possible so long as it worked perfectly). Rob did all the electrical and mechanical work along with the Beam Echo amp, dismantling for Bob to clean the various parts then returning them to him for reassembly.
The cabinet was resprayed as close as possible to the original colour (it was done in Rolls Royce ivory ) by a local car spray shop who also did the plastic parts by matching as close as possible to what looked like a spearmint green.
Bob also replaced all the audio cabling as it was causing a hum, the lighting system, and purchased /installed the missing items such as cabinet screen, signs, coin mechanism, coin box, locks and fittings. The bright metal and chrome was left original but cleaned/polished as best he could.
** January 2021: 1013 had now moved on to a new owner, see the Part 2 entry. **
