Model I

1958 BAL-AMi Model I

Most of the Model I's made by BAL-AMi were of the manual select (spin wheel) variety, and in the pink/charcoal colour combination. Some electric select versions do exist, but these were made in very small numbers. Less than ten are known to have survived.

I'm not aware of any I100 or I120 variants being made by Balfour, just the I200.

Several BAL-AMi I200Ms exist with the turquoise cabinet, deck trim and cap signage, but strangely have a pink cap, which makes them look like a hybrid. Quite why Balfour didn't fit the "correct" turquoise cap is not known.

Among the things that differentiate the British BAL-AMi from the American AMi I series models are a perspex screen (US model has glass), a Beam Echo amplifier, a 240 volt 50Hz mains power supply system, the turntable motor, and the credit unit/wiring.
